Pottery with Lemon

Pottery with Lemon
Oil on Hardboard, 7" x 7"
Available at $20 plus $10 shipping.

The bowl is by Beverly Halpert, and here's a link to see her in a video, throwing a bowl on the wheel.
The glaze is really quite beautiful. I got this lovely little bowl by trading artwork. What a grand way to barter for lovely things.

Bowl with Strawberries

Bowl with Strawberries
Oil on MDF Board, 8" x 8"
Available at $25 plus $10 shipping.

So I moved my standing lights around to produce some more drama. Cool looking, and I like the cast shadows, but it makes it a little hard to see what you're painting. But I got some drama.

White Bowl with Lemons - SOLD

White Bowl with Lemons
Oil on Wood Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $25 plus $10 shipping.

Being nearsighted, I like to be able to get right up into a still life, nose to nose, as it were (without my contacts). To give myself a fresh start, I moved some furniture around today in my bedroom/studio - to get a little closer to my set up and my painting. Jerry rigging with cardboard boxes, a pile of MDF boards, a little ballast here and there. It worked for today:

Tea Bags

Tea Bags
Colored Pencil on Bristol, 4" x 8.5"
Available at $7 plus $10 shipping.

This one can also be a bit larger (below), but I think the cropped version (above) looks better:

5.5" x 8.5"

Dried Hydrangeas - Walnut Ink and Watercolor - SOLD

Dried Hydrangeas - Walnut Ink and Watercolors
on Arches Watercolor Paper, 11" x 15"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

The hydrangeas I saved from my brother's yard, and they have the smallest tinge of mauve still in them. For this one I used a bamboo pen with walnut ink, with touches of watercolor.

Strawberries in Watercolor - SOLD

Strawberries in Watercolor, Pen and Ink
Watercolor on Paper, Image Size 6" x 4", Paper Size 8.5" x 8.5"
SOLD at $7 plus $10 shipping

I am taking a space to rethink my painting style and strategy. So few of the winter paintings have sold, that I have to wonder what I am doing wrong, besides boring myself and my collectors. Hmmm, time to think about a new direction maybe. Meanwhile, some "other" kinds of sketches and paintings.

Cold Winter Pond

Cold Winter Pond
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 10" x 10" x 1.5"
Available at $40 plus $12 shipping.

View of Painted side edge below
This one needs no frame, as it is painted all around top, sides and bottom. (Well, not yet, but the top and sides are done, and I'll wait to do the bottom edge until I can handle it little more dry.) The extension from the wall is 1.5".

Dappled Road

Dappled Road
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
Available at $20 plus $10 shipping.

I was getting ready to do a winter snow scene (again) today, but realized that I didn't have another tube of white, like I thought. Oops! So did a revision of an old painting instead, that only required a bit of white that was still on my palette.

Tangelos Times Two - SOLD

Tangelos Times Two
Oil on Wood Panel, 5" x 7"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

No pecans this time, just the tangelos. Even though the box they came in spelled the name "Tangeloes", my spell checker seems to prefer the name without the "e". So be it.

Tangeloes with Georgia Pecans

Tangeloes with Georgia Pecans
Oil on Wood Panel, 5" x 7"
Available at $20 plus $10 shipping.

A little change of pace from all the snow scenes. The tangeloes came in the mail, a nice gift from my friend S, and delicious. The pecans came from my Georgia cousin, picked from her friend's tree.

Moss Pond with Snow

Moss Pond with Snow
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
Available at $45.00 plus $10 shipping.

Okay, I really love this one. I really like how the trees turned out; the winter colors of mauve, ochre, sienna and the touch of light at the tops of the pines.  It has a nice quiet mood, a little winter serenity.

Snow Covered Pond

Snow Covered Pond
Oil on Wood Panel, 8" x 10"
Available at $25 plus $10 shipping.

Spoiler Alert: The next painting will be a larger, square formatted version of the same image, a reference  photo I took of Moss Pond in Barre, Massachusetts.

Frosted - SOLD

Frosted
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $40 plus $10 shipping.

This one is a little on the abstract side.
I just like the yellowish glow in the sky, and the sense of the change of seasons.
A bit of snow on the ground, but a few clinging leaves also.

January Pink

January Pink

A little color, a little thought of Spring, a little relief from the cold, a rose!

Winter Greys

Winter Greys
Oil on Wood Panel, 6" x 8"
Available at $20 plus $10 shipping.

Going for the soft, warm greys of winter; overcast skies and soft greys in the landscape.
I'm happy with the quiet mood of this little one.

Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 20"
Available at $40 plus $12 shipping.

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in my results. There are very few shapes here, except maybe the snow. The rest is line, line, line, and I thought it would be stunning, with the orange popping thru. And it took hours, with tiny brushes. I mean, it's lovely, but not stunning as I wanted. Hmmm. Goes to show, I guess.
